ReleasesBlack Death Of Rockendale (2000)AboutSummer of 1998 ends: metalband Mass breaks up but bassist Mario van Meer and drummer Hans Wilders keep on making noise as a duo. They name this new project Bob Miller And The Nightmares, find themselves a guitarplayer (Robert-Jan de Pauw), release a crappy 4-track demo tape and start doing shows. A year later Mario switches to vocals and Hans to bass. The trio becomes a quintet with the addition of guitarist Fer Lauwerijssen and drummer Martijn Konings and within a few weeks they write, record and release the Skullfuck Riot cd and earn themselves a spot on an Opscene compilation which also features tracks from ALL, Dead Man Ray and Mitch. In and around the fall of the year 2000 they do a bunch of shows with The Coffinkids and decide to release a split cd together. This marks the beginning of the Black Death collective. After this release Hans leaves and is replaced by Antal Derene, and they record the never released full-length album Watch The Dead Rivers Swell With Blood right before disbanding. On these recordings you can clearly hear the band has grown, shifting their style from aggressive punk to innovative noise in the vein of late Breach and Refused. In the short 4 years of their existence they have shared stages with bands such as Against Time, Instil, Homethrust, Aversion and Second To None. The successor to this last band, Dead Rivers, named themselves after the final BM recordings. Most ex-members went ahead with Stockholm Syndrome and later on Otis and Lugosi. |
